New Danish kilometer-based and CO₂-differentiated road tax

Future-proofing Denmark’s Road Transport Through Green Transition

Denmark is implementing a new kilometer-based and CO₂-differentiated road tax for certain trucks, alongside changes to national regulations regarding truck weights and dimensions. This initiative is expected to significantly reduce the country’s CO₂ emissions.

The new tax aims to more accurately reflect the societal costs associated with truck traffic, including road wear, accidents, noise pollution, air pollution, and congestion—issues that will now be addressed in a more responsible manner than before.

The tax will come into effect on January 1, 2025.
